You may stop a Mock Exam at any time and return to it at a later time or date. When you return, your exam will begin where you left off.
While taking a Mock Exam, you may “mark” any answered or unanswered questions that you want to return to later.
After completing a Mock Exam, you will be able to view your chapter (content domain) scores and review the rationales for all questions.
Use the Topic Search feature to search for Mock Exam questions on a specific term, concept, or theory; and use the History feature to track your scores on the Mock Exams.
The Mock Exams are critical to your success on the EPPP, and we recommend that you take and review all eight exams using the following guidelines:
Begin taking Mock Exams once you have completed reading both Area A chapters of the Comprehensive Study Volumes (Abnormal Psychology, Ethics and Professional Issues) and at least three of the five Area B chapters (Clinical Psychology, Lifespan Development, Physiological Psychology and Psychopharmacology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Learning Theory and Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions).
Take the first three Mock Exams in Study Mode and the remaining exams in Exam Mode. Take at least two exams in Exam Mode with Timer in exam-like conditions (i.e., take the exam while seated at a desk or table in an environment that has minimal distractions and adhere to the time limit).
Use effective test-taking strategies. For example, use the five-step process described in the Strategies Book (especially for questions with lengthy stems and/or answers) and use the process of elimination for questions on unfamiliar topics.
When reviewing the rationales for questions you answered incorrectly, try to determine if your incorrect answer was due to a lack of content knowledge or the use of ineffective test-taking strategies. If you missed a question due to a lack of knowledge or understanding, study the rationale and, if necessary, go back to the chapter or your notes to review relevant information.
If you take a Mock Exam more than once, be careful not to simply memorize the questions and answers. Instead, when taking an exam for a second or third time, use it as a source of information by reviewing each question and its rationale as you would a chapter in the Comprehensive Study Volumes or your notes.
