Managing High-Risk Patients Through Teletherapy

This course discusses the emergence of telehealth in the treatment of patients with behavioral health issues.  It provides discussion concerning special considerations when using this method in treating high-risk patient populations.  The presenter will discuss standard of care issues.  The presenter will examine specific high-risk populations and risks associated.  The presenter will identify the importance of documentation including informed consent.  The presenter will discuss the importance of safety precautions and will provide a case example as a method to illustrate this.  Additionally, licensure and location will be discussed as well as general termination issues.

On completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the changing landscape of treatment through telehealth
  • Discuss ways to explore the importance of being aware of rules and regulations
  • Examine the importance of documentation and informed consent in telehealth
  • Discuss high-risk patient populations
